  • A member of Independent Living Canada (IL Canada - www.ilcanada.ca)
  • Offer a wide range of disability related information, services and resources. Our goal is to support people in making informed decisions about their lives.

Yes. Our office is located at 4 Escasoni Place in St. John's. We are usually open from 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. To check out our services or book an appointment with a Coordinator, contact the Independent Living Resource Centre. You're always welcome at the Centre!

What can a volunteer do at the Independent Living Resource Centre?

Volunteers do all kinds of things. Some examples are: work on committees, answer the phone, do general office work, look after the building and courtyard/garden, set up booths, help with presentations and workshops, write articles for the newsletter, help others learn to use a computer, and so much more. Bring your ideas to the Independent Living Resource Centre and we'll put them into action.

What does consumer control mean?

When we talk about consumers, we mean people who self-identify as having a disability. Consumer control means that everything at the Independent Living Resource Centre is based on the talents and knowledge of people who have disabilities. The majority of the Board of Directors, committee members, volunteers, and staff have disabilities. In fact, our bylaws say that over half of the board members must be people who have disabilities. The Independent Living Resource Centre is truly consumer controlled.
